Cello instruction from a seasoned professional.
Edward Klein a resident of Gainesville has been performing professionally for more than forty years on the cello and viola da gamba in orchestras and ensembles and as a solo recitalist.
At 16 he was the youngest student ever accepted into the adult Orchestra and Chamber Music Program at Tanglewood where he studied for two summers. Before that he studied at the Greenwood Music Camp in Cummington Mass.
He served on the Boards of Trustees at the Kinhaven Music School in Weston Vt. and the Skylands Youth Symphony in Sussex County where he was also the music director and conductor.
Edward received his early musical training in the Boston area with cellist Jacobus Langendoen of the Boston Symphony Orchestra; he later studied with concert artist Zara Nelsova. He is a graduate of Swarthmore College.
Edward served in the Navy as a member of the Naval Academy Band playing cello oboe baritone horn piano and string bass. He performed for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican in 1990 and was a soloist in the Rutter Requiem at Carnegie Hall under the baton of the composer John Rutter. Along with his wife Adrienne he currently performs as a freelance cellist in the Gainesville/Ocala area. He holds principal positions in the Albany Ga. Symphony Orchestra the Central Florida Symphony and the Central Florida Philharmonic Orchestra located in Ocala.
